What is Happening With The Statue Project?

​​It may seem like not much is happening with the Grandma Gatewood project, but we want to assure you that we are still actively moving forward.

In a fundraising committee, responsibilities often rest on just a few individuals, and when they are pulled in various directions, it can seem quiet on the surface. However, behind the scenes, a tremendous amount of effort is underway. 

We are on a quest to find a second location for the Grandma Gatewood sculpture along the Appalachian Trail, remember the first is going to her gravesite Ohio Valley Memory Gardens in Gallipolis, Ohio. 

The journey to install this second hundred-thousand-dollar sculpture has presented challenges we never anticipated. We have explored four different locations, and while each new opportunity filled us with excitement, we faced substantial red tape along the way. We are grateful for the support from each location and are currently pursuing two other options. Let’s keep the spirit strong; a little trail magic could go a long way!
