MAKING SOME “TRAIL” MUSIC

in the making of “Trail Magic” we had help from several music experts. Mike Petee got us started with the theme song for the film. He helped us by researching and identifying historically significant “Appalachian” music known to be played during Emma’s life time. Then Foster Brown came into the studio with his family and helped us to record these songs and more. Foster’s versatility and creativity allowed us to create a unique sound track. The music in the film is augmented by the orchestral sounds of composer Rick Sowash and fiddle player James Hodges who was also a AT thru-hiker and featured in the film. Truly an amazing blend of sounds.

Come hear Foster Brown perform some of the music from TRAIL MAGIC before the documentary is shown this Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at First Congregational UCC; 330 Second St.; Elyria, Ohio. The film will start after the concert at 7 p.m. followed by a Q & A with Foster, writer Kelly Boyer Sagert and producer, Bette Lou Higgins. Tickets are $5.00. Are there any scheduled showings of “Trail Magic” during this spring and/or summer? I live in Cincinnati now but I’m willing to travel to see the documentary. While growing up in Gallipolis, Grandma Gatewood would take my Brownie/Girlscout troop on hikes around town and taught us how to identify trees and plants. She created great memories for a lot of young gals!
